PROMOTION OF CLEAN AND EFFICIENT TECHNOLOGIES THROUGH PRODUCTIVE INVESTMENTS – FILE TLE-13-2025
Project description and objectives
The main activity of CINTASA, S.A. is the manufacture of complementary equipment integrators such as screens, vibrating feeders, scales, filters, metal separators, and sorting cabins.
As part of a continuous process of innovation—closely monitoring developments in manufacturing processes and new market trends—and through constant investment to improve and optimize the production process in order to offer customers the best products and thus maintain the company’s competitiveness, a high-technology CNC lathe, model TD-35-Y-3200 from CMZ Machinery Group, has been acquired.
RESULTS ACHIEVED
Technological modernization: Clean and resource-efficient technologies have been implemented to develop research and innovation capabilities.
Industrial competitiveness: Production capacity has been improved through core technologies that provide innovative, state-of-the-art features.
Strategic autonomy: Dependence on third countries has been reduced, strengthening European supply chains.
Environmental sustainability: Solutions have been implemented that contribute to the EU’s climate and energy objectives.
Increased European manufacturing capacity: The Z3200 bed, capable of handling parts up to 3.2 meters in length, combined with the HS-4.0 hydraulic steady rest for diameters from Ø30 to Ø255 mm, has substantially increased the capacity to manufacture long, high-precision components within Europe. This capability is particularly strategic for sectors such as renewable energy (wind turbine shafts and components), railway transport (axles and bogies), and heavy industrial machinery, reducing dependence on Asian suppliers.
Supply security consolidation: CINTASA’s ability to manufacture critical components in-house through complex operations in a single setup (turning + milling + drilling) has strengthened local supply chains and reduced vulnerability to geopolitical disruptions. Axial and radial driven toolholders with internal coolant up to 12,000 rpm enable machining of difficult materials and complex geometries that traditionally required international subcontracting.
Contribution to European technological leadership: CMZ technology (a Spanish manufacturer) with Fanuc control represents the combination of European expertise in precision mechanics with advanced control technology, strengthening the European technological ecosystem. Remote tele-assistance capabilities and Industry 4.0 connectivity position CINTASA as a technological benchmark, generating demonstration effects and knowledge transfer to other companies within the Aragonese and Spanish industrial ecosystem.
Outstanding energy efficiency: CMZ technology has demonstrated energy savings of 36% compared to other manufacturers, reducing typical consumption from 119,607 kWh/year to 78,000 kWh/year—an annual saving of 41,607 kWh. This efficiency results from the combination of Fanuc α Series regenerative servomotors (-35% consumption), IE4 variable-flow hydraulic power unit (-70% consumption), high-efficiency coolant pumps (-3% to -50% depending on pressure), and LED lighting system (-93% consumption).
Cycle time efficiency: Accelerations of 1g on all axes, traverse speeds of up to 30 m/min, and tool changes in 0.2 seconds for consecutive positions significantly reduce non-productive time. Multitasking capability (Y-axis + driven tools) eliminates repositioning and reduces total machining time by concentrating multiple operations in a single setup.
Thermal and dimensional efficiency: The monoblock bed design with internal ribbing—furnace-stabilized and ground in a single setup—together with the thermal separation system for the coolant tank (470 liters on the Z3200) via an air chamber, minimizes thermal deformation and improves dimensional stability. Pre-stretched spindles supported at both ends eliminate thermal distortion during warm-up, maintaining precision without the need for long warm-up periods.
Material efficiency: Improved precision and surface finish have reduced the need for subsequent operations, minimizing material waste and rework. The coolant filtration system with double metal filters and multi-stage decantation extends cutting fluid life, reducing consumption and waste.
